Based in Newton Abbot, our team brings years of expertise in garden maintenance and soft landscaping to create and nurture beautiful, thriving outdoor spaces. Check out our service area across Devon.
We pride ourselves on our extensive experience managing diverse and complex gardens. Our background includes overseeing an estate near Okehampton, complete with a vineyard, walled garden, glass growing houses, and multiple lakes. Daniel Smith
I’m Dan, a passionate gardener based in Newton Abbot, Devon. With a wealth of experience managing the gardens of an estate near Okehampton, which included a vineyard, walled garden, glass growing houses, and numerous lakes, I bring a comprehensive skill set to every project.
My journey also includes enriching stints with the National Trust at Killerton House in Exeter and Coleton Fishacre near Kingswear, Brixham. These roles offered me excellent training and the chance to deepen my knowledge and expertise in all aspects of gardening.
My approach is all about efficiency, effectiveness, and bringing your garden vision to life. I’m friendly, approachable, and eager to build a strong working relationship with you. Whether working individually or alongside my capable gardening team (see below), we ensure that your gardening needs are met with the utmost care and professionalism.
I hold a full chainsaw license, spraying tickets, a quad bike license, and a bachelor’s degree in Ecology, making me fully qualified for the job.

Jem
I have previously worked as a handyman and a chef, but I have a keen interest in nature. I recently completed a Certificate in Horticulture with distinction, and the training and experience I have gained with the Garden Boot Company has helped me build a career in this field.
Outside work I play music in my family band and I like to travel as much as I can.
Peter
I grew up in a rural village in North Yorkshire and spent much of my childhood outdoors, which is where my love of nature began. I went on to study at Askham Bryan College, gaining a National Diploma and a Higher National Diploma in Horticulture, and I now have over 25 years of gardening experience.
At the end of 2025, my wife and I moved to Devon to be closer to family, and I joined the Garden Boot Company in January 2026.
Outside work, my main passion is riding my motorbike around the countryside. I also enjoy clay pigeon shooting and long country walks with my wife and our little Jack Russell.
Tom
I joined the Garden Boot Company as a part-time assistant and I’m now in my second year, working full time alongside our experienced gardeners and learning from them every day. I’ve always had a keen interest in nature and wildlife and love getting out walking, so working in our clients’ gardens suits me well. I really enjoy being outdoors and the physical challenges each day brings.
Next year I’m working towards several horticultural goals, including plant identification, hedge cutting and my chainsaw ticket.
